Summary: Written for [livejournal.com profile] hc_bingo card tile cuddling, set in an altered universe Season one/two where contact with Earth wasn't established during The Siege and much darker expedition staffing for the military side.

Two years after meeting the Lantean people who had come from a far away world, Teyla Emmagen was now living among them. It had taken a great while before she was accepted among the military of these people, regardless of John and Rodney's continued support of her. Still, the men that reported to her friend and team leader she had observed them often ostracizing the women who shared the same uniform.

Of them, the larger men, particularly the marines that John had often mentioned his irritation with, were particularly harsh. Whenever she had overheard them, they had comments to make about the female members of the military that came with the group and how they should have stayed home to be someone's wife and tend to children. Teyla took particular offense to many of these words but held her tongue at the request of John who explained that there are a number of people in their military that still have rather old fashioned views of a woman's place. It helped her view that he insisted he was not one of them and wished for her to be on his team in particular because of her skills and contacts through the galaxy.

Being the strong leader and woman she was, Teyla pressed forward in her new life with the Lantean people. As much as she loved her people, she joined these new comers in the city of the Ancients feeling that they were their strongest allies in the fight against the Wraith. However, the feelings of loneliness would not leave her.

Making friends among the scientists and of course her team helped greatly but after the long fight against the Wraith's siege fell heavy on the hearts of the leading gate team. Losing Aiden as they had was very hard and finding solace was nearly impossible. Sitting on an empty balcony in the darkness, over looking the great ocean of the planet's moonlight, Teyla found herself feeling more alone than ever.

"You know that what they say isn't true," a voice spoke up from behind her.

She turned her head slightly but did not move otherwise. Letting out a sigh, her eyes stayed out over the waters. "I have dealt with people similar Major. Of course I didn't have to have dealings with them on a daily basis."

John slowly made his way over to her and lowered himself into a squat so that he was closer to her seated level. "Well, you are more than welcome to beat the crap out of them in training," he smiled, trying to cheer her up some but swallowed hard at the look in her eyes when she finally turned them on him. "No matter what they say, or do, I'm here."

Teyla nodded and found herself leaning into him, her arms curling up at his sides. She could feel his own awkwardly pulling her into his hug, clearly unsure of what to do. "We will deal with them, find Ford, and everything else...somehow," he said softly.

He did not know what to do with her seeking comfort from him. When he turned his face to look down at her more, it was possibly the worst mistake he made. The fragrance of her hair, the Athosian spices she burned in her room coming up from the soft strands. He found himself slowly burying his face in the soft waves and curve of her neck.

Something sparked in that quiet, and seemingly innocent moment. A need fired up inside him as he lifted his head. "It's getting cold," he murmured, fingers stroking her hair from her face. "Come with me. You don't have to be alone."

She nodded, her eyes falling from his face to his chest where her hand rested. Standing carefully, Teyla followed John through the darkened corridors of the quiet, sleeping city. When they got to his room, she looked up at him as if he were sure, if she was sure. The look in his eyes was all that she needed.
