Summary: Locker room talk makes its way back to the hot topic of conversation.

Several times, after particularly difficult off world missions, John often found himself either in Teyla's bed or her in his. After that one night, neither had intended it to become a regular thing, but the comfort they found in one another was unexpected. Time and again, John planned to talk to her about it but it never seemed to be the right time.

After their teammate, Drew Weatherly, overheard several of the other military men talking about things they observed on their night watches. The hottest topic of the locker room at the time was their CO and the alien liaison. Frowning, Drew made a quiet exit from there and went to find his friend and leader, who was busy hiding in his office.

"Major? I uh – was hoping to speak with you about something," he said as he stood stiffly in the doorway.

John looked up with a tired smile. "Yeah Weatherly? What's up?"

Drew immediately relaxed at his boss's tone as he stepped in, making sure that the door closed. "I just came from the locker room Sir. I thought it might be prudent for you to know – you're the topic of the current gossip right now."

The man ran a hand over his face as he considered that and figured that wasn't anything new. "What about?"

"Um, the men were talking about your relationship with Teyla..."

John sighed and nodded. "Yeah I get it. I'll deal with them later. I've got some other things to deal with first but thanks for giving me the heads up," he smiled.

"No problem. I'll be heading to my quarters for the night if you need me," Weatherly said before ducking out.

Sheppard sat in his chair for a little while longer before wrapping up his files open on the computer before making his way out and towards the Athosian area of the City. He hadn't intended on going there initially but his subconscious lead him. Outside of her room, he raised his hand to her crystal panel to the door and hesitated. Wanting to get the much needed conversation out of the way, he alerted the occupant to his presence.

Teyla had been meditating with her Athosian spice candles when she heard the notice of a visitor. Letting out a breath, she opened the door to find John waiting with his hands in his pockets, eyeing the corridor around him.

"Major Sheppard. I was not expecting you tonight," she said in surprise.

"Yeah, sorry about that. I just wanted to talk to you about something," he said quickly. "May I come in?"

"Of course," she replied as she stood back to allow him to enter. "Is something wrong?"

He paced the length of her room as he ran a hand through his already messy hair and shrugged. "I don't know. About you and I – and what we been uh doing..."

"What about you and I?" the woman prompted.

"What we've been doing. It's just I learned that we've been talked about lately and I didn't want those idiots thinking the wrong thing about you, or us."

Teyla nodded as she went to sit on her bed. "I have heard of such stories myself. I have not paid any attention to them. Do they bother you, the falseness of them?"

John sighed as he stopped and stared at the wall. "I don't know," he admitted. "To be honest, I am more concerned about you. What they are saying about you is not true."

A frown appeared on her lips. "Would you tell me what they mean? What is a whore?"

"It's a – bad word. Means a person who ah – sleeps with many people," he answered, his face red.

"I see. But I have only been with you," Teyla replied. "Why would they say such untrue things?"

"Because they can. I don't know why they have to be so cruel but please...know that I do not think of you like that. I – enjoy your company. Not like that but you. I enjoy just being around you," John tried to explain, feeling like a failure.

"I enjoy being – around you as well," she eventually said as she let him calm down. "I um, was meditating when you arrived. Would you be willing to try it? It may help with some of the tension you are feeling."

John knew that he should leave the room but when he looked into her earnest eyes he found himself nodding. "Sure. I'll try," he said.

"Come. Sit with me," she smiled, moving herself back on the bed to make room for him. Each of them knew their time would not end in with meditation by his agreement to stay. But they had an understanding and that was enough for the time being. He was her relief the world of insane space vampires and difficult marines and she was his angel, his other person that truly understood and accepted him.
