Summary: Written for [livejournal.com profile] stargateland theme week, day two prompt, 24- SG1, Walter Harriman, having a good day.

All in all Master Sergeant Harriman was getting off to a good start. He woke up from a full night of restful sleep, feeling more refreshed than before. When he went to take a shower, the plumbing didn't give him a hard time and was even able to finish washing himself before the hot water gave out.

As Walter dressed for shift, he pulled out his favorite uniform that was so broken in, that it felt like butter when he pulled it on. So soft and not so stiff. What surprised him there was that a small rip seemed to be repaired. Shocked, he looked back in his drawer to find a small note where his uniform sat.

Thought I'd learn a new skill. Much love, Vala.

Smiling, the man left the note and grabbed his electronic planner so that he could keep up with the General's activities for the day. As he made his way through the corridors, it seemed that everyone was being rather friendly. Even the most straight faced officers greeted him with either a 'hello' or a simple smile and nod. Trying not to think about it, Walter set about his usual routine of getting a pot of coffee made in Landry's office and bringing up fresh milk from the commissary.

Landry, for the most part, remembered his meetings for the day. There were only a couple of briefings with SG teams that he had to go in and remind his boss about. Gate travel was all on schedule. All the off world people were coming back with good news of friendly people. One team even had a handgun of some sort of technology that science could reverse engineer, which was highly unusual.

By the time it was nearly the end of the day, there was just one thing left on the agenda. A team from Atlantis was back on Earth for business, going over some science discovery. In one of the labs, Dr. McKay and Colonel Carter were going back and forth over theories about a device found in a Lantean lab in the city.

When Walter walked in with General Landry, the first thing he saw was an amused, and somewhat bored group of observers that sat off to the side. Colonel Sheppard, Colonel Mitchell, Dr. Jackson and Miss Mal Doran each watched their friends go back and forth like a tennis match.

At some point, Vala had gotten so tired of the debate that she just got up with a huff and pressed the button that the two leading scientists just agreed (finally) not to touch. Almost instantly, everyone shut up and turned to look at the device as it powered up.

Before Walter knew it, he was covered in a pink slime that smelled like bad coffee. Well...It was a good day.
